  Good products but a complete shambles in design, commissioning and fault finding. After more than a year, problems still exist and are not recognised by Optimum let alone coming up with a solution. In summary problems exist with the system of high manifold temps, poorly controlled and inaccurate manifold/flow temps, odd mixing valve movement with incorrect dormant position, mixing valve leakage, bypass pressure not stated or adjusted, DHW return loop unable to be programmed and the drawings are not correct or as installed. Starting at the beginning with design, Optimum has refused to accept 100% design responsibility for the entire heating system. This is because they choose to ignore the boiler, the boiler bypass loop and boiler 4-way flow valve as their responsibility because they did not supply these items. With this approach problems have now been discovered with the design of the system that existed from the very beginning. The iCon control system and wiring design has been incorrect with respect to the boiler from day one. The drawings now at rev E still show the wrong design and do not represent what is as-built because site mods were carried out due to operational issues and safety issues relating to a potential fire.
  Optimum has not interacted thoroughly enough with the boiler manufacturer or studied the available boiler information in depth to provide the best solution and that is where most of the problems arise from. They have designed for a standard oil boiler without an internal water volume and even began by showing a separate DHW tank until this was pointed out. Our system is a pellet boiler with integral water volume which requires a totally different approach than a standard oil boiler.
  Another disappointing aspect is the visits that Optimum carried out. There were three visits but none were a comprehensive Test and Commissioning visit. There may have been some tests done to demonstrate the system but there was no Test and Commissioning procedure to follow step by step and also no ‘test cases’. A test case would be a specific test to demonstrate the system performed correctly under the worst case, ie full or min load, high temp, smallest circuit etc. And this lack of a comprehensive and professional approach has meant that problems that were known and thought to be eliminated during a visit would later reoccur because the system naturally got to a worst case state and the problem could clearly be seen as still there. The first two visits were by an electrical technician, not a designer and the reports illustrate a lack of knowledge of design of the system and have basic errors. The third visit was by designers but no test and commissioning procedure was available and test cases were not set up and demonstrated. Consequently this third visit allowed Optimum in their opinion to demonstrate 100% success of the system and the system did indeed appear briefly to be working correctly. However within 24hrs the same problems reoccurred and there are now additional previously unknown problems that have arisen that are likely to have been there from the very beginning.
  Overall find someone else who can actually design a system properly and have the knowledge to understand faults. You can only ask to get problems to be fixed for so long before you must accept defeat and employ others to finish a flawed design and commission.
